  Jane Ek's satirical play Novosibirsk was first performed in Moscow in 1964. It received critical acclaim in her native Soviet Union where it was nominated as the best theatrical production of that year by readers of Soviet dramatic publication Shtory. Set in 1952 against the background of a fictional war with Mongolia, the plot concerns the arrival in the city of Novosibirsk of Soviet Premiere Joseph Stalin who announces that he is there to personally investigate certain irregularities at the Novosibirsk zoo. Anton, a zoo keeper with responsibility for the penguin enclosure, has removed eighteen penguins from the zoo to avoid danger from Mongolian air raids, but now that a cease fire has been declared he has failed to return the penguins and is coming under increasing pressure to explain what he has done with them.
  
  You can't really understand the album without reading the sleeve notes, but I guess you might be able to derive some superficial pleasure from it.
